Burt's Bees Intense Hydration

Recently I was given the opportunity to try some of the products in the Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Line. I received them through BzzAgent. I enjoy being a Bzz Agent because it's great to try new things and speak about them.

I'm hard to please when it comes to skincare products. I have good skin for someone my age (47) but I tend to be sensitive. Many products make my eyes water. Price doesn't matter - even the expensive stuff can trigger that reaction. I had a particularly bad bout of eye-watering from some Lancome products. I tend to stick with the Olay Regenerist line for that reason, I know they don't trigger any reactions.

I was looking forward to the Burt's Bees campaign from Bzz Agent because I'd heard many positive things about the Burt's Bees line. My mother-in-law loves it. The Intense Hydration line contains Clary Sage, which is supposed to be great as a natural moisturizer.

The kit included the Daily Creme Cleanser, the Intense Hydration Treatment Mask, and the Night Cream. I figured I'd give it a go, and jumped on in. It also included little samples of the day and night creams,  and coupons.

Well, I was disappointed. I loved the scent - very natural, very nice (and I'm picky about scent!) but both the night cream and the day cream were just too thick. They felt thick and waxy on my skin. The night cream was especially heavy, and made me look like one of those women in a 50s tv show with a face full of cream. Ick. Even worse, I had whiteheads the next morning. I'm 47, not 14, this is nuts.

The Treatment Mask was difficult to work with. It wasn't simple to get off, and was more of a hassle than I expected. I wouldn't use it again.

I did give a number of the samples to my mother-in-law, who loved them (she's 83) and to my friend Linda, who is my age. I'm fair-skinned but Linda is even lighter than I am, and she likes a lot of moisture. She felt that the night cream was perfect for her and was more than happy to take the coupons and samples. Everyone agreed that the scent was good, which was a big plus.

So, you win some, you lose some. I wasn't a fan but I discovered two people who were, so they were able to make good use of the samples. In reading the other reviews of the products, I found that most people did like the line, but some had the same complaints that I did. Not everything will be for everyone, right?
